Synopsis

Movie Casting News: Erica Durance to star as 'Maid Marian' in a Robin Hood movie

Erica Durance was previously reported to have been filming a movie last Fall (other than Final Verdict, of course) and now, we know what that other movie she was working on as it's recently been added and listed in her imdb's filmography section. Erica is set to star as Maid Marian in another made for tv movie: Robin Hood: Beyond Sherwood.



Plot Description:


A reimagining of the classic Robin Hood tale merges the elements of magic and medieval romance. The Sheriff of Nottingham has targeted Robin and his band of heroes dwelling within Sherwood Forest. To destroy his enemies, the Sheriff unleashes an unstoppable creature that transforms at night into Alina, a striking woman. Robin must find a cure for Alina before her terror spreads, all the while keeping his childhood love Maid Marion out of harm's way.


The production company behind the film is Front Street Pictures, whose recent film “The Lost Treasure of the Grand Canyon” starring Shannen Doherty (Beverly Hills, 90210, Charmed) and Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1) had a very successful run on the SCI-FI Channel right before Christmas.

As previously posted here by my friend and L&K News Contributor, Luke (aka Seeya'round Smallville) back in June (Final Verdict: Durance lands another movie!), Erica Durance's upcoming TV movie, Final Verdict will be airing in Canada's TMN network sometime in January 2009, but no news yet to when Lifetime network will air this here in the U.S., according to Superman fans for Lois Lane Blog and Emi (over at DI forum). 'Coraline' Unearths Official Site, New Featurettes and Complete Alphabet Cards

Less than two months away from its theatrical release "Coraline" has launched its official website and released several featurettes. One of the videos released to promote the 3D movies is "Meet the Cast" where characters like piano man, The Cat, Miss Forcible and others are given introduction.


The official site of the 3D movie contains lots of interesting features such as a peek on Coraline's bedroom and Other Mother's workshop where fans can upload their picture to see what they look like in Coraline's world. Also included are hidden behind-the-scene videos and goodies to download that can be noticed when one explores and clicks around.


The complete alphabet card from A to Z is also released, giving explanation on some terms and character traits in the movie.


"Coraline" will be released in U.S. theaters on February 6, 2009. Voice talents among others are filled by Dakota Fanning as the titular character, Teri Hatcher as Coraline's Mother/Other Mother, and Ian McShane as Mr. Bobinski.

Brandon Routh in Bollywood film 'Kambakkth Ishq' slated for release in May 2009

According to The Siasat Daily, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor starrer 'Kambakkht Ishq' by debutant director Sabir Khan will hit the theatres on May 29, 2009.

Till now, the movie has hogged the limelight owing to the presence of multiple Hollywood celebrities like Denise Richards, Brandon Routh, Sylvester Stallone... Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and presented by Eros International, 'Kambakkth Ishq' tells the story of a Hollywood stuntman, played by Akshay Kumar.

'Kambakkth Ishq' has been shot in beautiful locales of Los Angeles and Italy.

Coraline Update

[OregonLive.com] Laika, Phil Knight's animation studio, said this morning that it plans an ambitious slate of three films to follow up on its inaugural feature, "Coraline," due out in February (2009).

Coraline, the studio's first film, is the story of a girl who passes into a mirror world where she meets sinister, alternate versions of her parents. See a teaser for Coraline here.

Based on a novel by children's writer Neil Gaiman, it will be distributed by Focus Features with lead characters voiced by teen star Dakota Fanning and Desperate Housewives' Teri Hatcher. Read more.

Smallville Season 8 News: Tess & "Davis Bloome" Are Cast!

[From Kryptonsite] Michael Ausiello (formerly of TV Guide, headed to Entertainment Weekly) has revealed that the roles of "Tess" and erstwhile Doomsday "Davis Bloome" have been cast.

"Davis Bloome," aka Doomsday, will be played by Battlestar Galactica alum Sam Witwer, who played Alex "Crashdown" Quatraro on the series.

The role of Tess will be filled by Cassidy Freeman, who was actually Justin Hartley's leading lady in the failed CW pilot Austin Golden Hour.

Final Verdict: Durance lands another movie!

According to an article from the Montreal Gazette, Erica Durance will play an Assistant District Attorney in the upcoming 2008 telefilm, "Final Verdict". Filming concluded this past Thursday, June 19th, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Details are few and far between at the moment, but it appears that Erica will be helming the lead role, her 4th such time as a lead actress in a motion picture (The Butterfly Effect 2, Stranded, I Me Wed). Described as a legal thriller, the company's (Incendo) films are made for pay-TV and cable. This could be Erica's 3rd telefilm to air on the Lifetime network if you're looking to keep an eye out for it, and also if past history is a guide it could be aired a few months from now, but nothing is confirmed at this time regarding a network or a premiere date.

Congratulations to Erica on her new film!
