Smallville S8 DVD Update: New Blu-ray DVD Bonus Cover art

TV Shows on DVD reported that Warner Bros. recently released a new revised artwork for the Blu-ray version of Smallville's Season 8 DVD release, which was different artwork from the art already used for the standard Blu-ray DVD.

While the artwork does not feature Tom & Erica or any of the other series cast, it shows a nice image of the "Metropolis cityscape." Still, personally, I prefer the original TW & ED inside the DP cover over it, but that's just me (and the Clois/TW/ED fan in me, lol), of course.

TV Shows on DVD has uncovered more information of the new revised dvd cover art for the Blu-ray version with the "Metropolis cityscape." (scroll down and see the artwork below!) It will, indeed be released with that cover art as a "store exclusive" limited for a certain retail outlet (probably Best Buy?). As originally shown (as see dvd artwork again to your left), the regular retail release for both standard DVD and Blu-ray will still feature Tom Welling & Erica Durance (inside the Daily Planet). So, no worries for us, Clois fans who were already digging the original covers with TW & ED.

Brandon Routh's Superman Contract Expires?

According to Superman Homepage, The Brazilian entertainment news site Omelete.com.br caught up with Brandon Routh during a set visit for his up-coming film, "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" and asked him if he knew anything about the next Superman film's status. Here's is a basic Portuguese-to-English translation of parts of the report...

"I do not know of anything," said Routh. "I'm sure that Warner Bros. is moving there, but everything is still uncertain. Really, I do not know anything".

Routh also confirmed that he has no contract in place to once again embody the superhero. "The term of the contract expired. But if they call me again, I'd go back to the character without thinking twice!".

Return to the neighborhood of Wisteria Lane in the town of Fairview on September 1st, when Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment presents the DVD release of Desperate Housewives - The Complete 5th Season. The studio has only otherwise revealed that the cost of this set will be $59.99 SRP in the US and CA$79.99 for Canadians. Stay tuned and we'll bring you further developments about this release, plus package art, just as soon as Disney makes it available!

"Smallville" Stars to Appear at Comic-Con

Warner Bros. has announced that various "Smallville" cast members will be attending the San Diego Comic-Con to participate in a "Smallville" Screening and Q&A...

Smallville Screening and Q&A - Comic-Con favorite Smallville returns, as showrunners Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson join cast members including Smallville's Lois Lane - Erica Durance (House of the Dead) - Justin Hartley (Gemini Division), Cassidy Freeman (Finishing the Game: The Search for a New Bruce Lee) and others (yet to be announced) to talk about the year ahead, answer fan questions and give an exclusive sneak peek at clips from season nine. Award-winning comic book writer, Emmy®-nominated film and television writer/producer, and Smallville alum Jeph Loeb (Heroes) will moderate the session. MTV spoke to Brandon Routh about his upcoming films, "Scott Pilgrim" and "Dead of Night."

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Dead Of Night’ Star Brandon Routh Talks PG-13 Rating And Villains

“The comic property would probably be rated ‘R,’ we’re going for a PG-13 so more people can enjoy the film,” Routh told MTV News regarding the “Dead of Night” adaptation. “It’s [not just] gore and horror, it’s a lot more straight action, with a bit of comedy.”

“Although I don’t throw punches in ['Scott Pilgim Vs. The World'],” the actor explained. “I throw a lot of punches, and get the crap beat of me in ['Dead of Night'].”

Smallville the MOVIE?

Ain't It Cool News reports that they've received word that a possible movie-length project to conclude the "Smallville" TV series after season 9 might be taking place. The claim comes from an untested source who says they saw signage being prepared for a "Smallville" presentation at next month's San Diego Comic-Con. Here's how the signage is described...

On black, with crimson/red text in the same font lettering that Smallville uses, and a transparent grey Superman "S" watermark behind the text:

METROPOLIS

CHRISTMAS 2010

Then at the bottom is a banner advertising the Smallville presentation, with the time/place (can't remember).

Hoax or Truth? I guess we'll find out when the San Diego Comic-Con takes place across July 23-26.

Tom Welling and Smallville are nominated with 5 of this year's 2009 Teen Choice Awards.

Unfortunately, Erica Durance isn't nominated for Choice TV Actress: Action Adventure, but Kristin Kreuk did ?!?! and she only appeared in a few (3-4) guest appearances for Season 8, while Erica appeared for 13 episodes (unless this includes last year's Season 7 episodes ? ...but still, even with that Erica should've been nominated here as well or instead of KK...), how odd!

has released official details for the up-coming release of "Smallville: The Complete Eighth Season" on DVD and Blu-ray discs.

The 6-disc DVD collection and 4-disc Blu-ray collection will both hit shelves on August 25, 2009.

The Red-Blue Blur Comes to Smallville in Season 8 on DVD and Blu-ray August 25th!

There's a new reporter at the Daily Planet: Clark Kent, who shares a workspace with Lois Lane. There's a new hero in Metropolis, too. No one knows who he is.
