More SR Sequel News: Brandon Routh Talks Man Of Steel

ComingSoon.net just published a new and very interesting interview with Brandon Routh, mainly to discuss about his upcoming new movies ("Lie To Me," "Life Is Hot In Cracktown," Miss Nobody," and "Dylan Dog") as well as an upcoming TV Show for NBC, "Fear Itself," an anthology series he will be part of this summer (he'll appear in an episode titled, "Community"), but also to ask him about the sequel to "Superman Returns."

Here's an excerpt from the interview...

Q: Do you have any expectation as to when you might go to work on "Man of Steel"?

Routh: I expect that we'll be working early next year. I know that Bryan [Singer] has pretty much finished out "Valkyrie" and is back in the states and is zeroing in on the story that he wants to tell. Once that arrives it's going to move pretty quickly. I think that everybody is getting excited. It's been three years now, really. It's hard to believe that it's been long, but everyone is getting jazzed and ready to go again. I certainly am.

Q: What sides of Superman and Clark Kent are you excited about exploring in the sequel?

Routh: Well, I think that something that audiences are looking for - and I certainly am, too - is for Superman to actually be able to lay a punch on someone or something. I was filming and I thought, "I haven't really hit anything. I feel like I'm going to need to let some of this anger out." So I'm happy that I think that's going to be a central part of the sequel, getting a good villain that we can actually have physical altercations with. Certainly also, I'd like more humor from Clark or just more of Clark and Jimmy. A little bit more of Lois and Clark, how we used to see them, a bit more of buddies. Perhaps things will be smoothed over with Superman and Lois and she can afford to be a little bit nicer to Clark. I think that's something that people want to see and those are some of the great moments from previous "Superman" films. Also, Superman and Lois getting together, that's always my end goal. I want that to happen. The romantic in me wants that to happen eventually whether they're finally together in this movie or in whatever future films there might be. I kind of want to see that happen.

Q: Poor James Marsden. He's getting used to losing the girl.

Routh: I know, but he had some good films come out this year, and so James is doing all right.

Q: Has Bryan given you any voice in the plan, maybe asking you what you'd like to see or what you're looking forward to?

Routh: Yeah, and well, even if he doesn't ask I tell him all the time. He's very receptive to my notes and my thoughts and so I just let him know. I keep telling him that thing about Lois and Superman getting together and I trust that if I keep repeating that he'll just think it's his own thought someday.

TV Guide 2008 Sexiest Stars Update: Erica Durance Is A Sexiest Sci-Fi Gal Winner!

TV Guide revealed today all the winners for their 2008 Sexiest Stars Poll and Erica Durance won the Sexiest Sci-Fi Gal category.

Unfortunately, her Smallville co-star, Tom Welling lost the Sexiest Sci-Fi Guy category to Alex O'Loughlin of CBS' Moonlight.

Congratulations Erica Durance!

Check out all the other Sexiest TV Stars Winners including Erica Durance here.

Update 4/29:

I received my TV Guide subscription today. I got my copy earlier than usual. Grey's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey is on the cover (as you can see to your left) for The Sexiest Man On TV and Jennifer Love Hewitt is on the other cover for The Sexiest Woman On TV, which the TV Guide staff has chosen. So, I was very disappointed in finding out that there wasn't any new photo shoot for Erica Durance and other poll winners in the magazine's Sexiest Stars issue. They only used the same small pics of the winners they have up on TVGuide.com. So, I didn't bother to scan it as it's the same Erica pic (but much smaller) I used here that they used on the TV Guide magazine. So, yeah, no new pictures and unfortunately, the 2 covers were chosen by TV Guide staff and not by sexiest stars winners that the viewers/fans voted on, they only added the poll winners results in small sections with small pictures and the ones that the staff chose (their actual sexiest list) had new photo shoots with a page of picture and article about them. I was looking forward to seeing a new Erica Durance picture and article, but no, they used the same one I've used here. Oh, well, at least she won and was chosen by the viewers/fans (which was the most important thing here) as the 2008 Sexiest Sci-Fi Gal. Congrats again, Erica!

Tune in on TV Guide Network ...
to see if the poll winners including Erica will be shown on episode.

Smallville Shakes Things Up

Here's an article about Smallville from The Star:

T
here's trouble brewing in an idyllic little town just southeast of Vancouver ...

This looks like a job for Superman.

Or rather, his nascent super-self, young Clark Kent of Smallville, Kan. – relocated, for television purposes, to a busy Burnaby, B.C., studio sound stage, where the adventures of the Teen of Steel are recreated weekly.

For now, anyway. While its originating network, The CW, has definitely picked up Smallville for an upcoming eighth season, what form it might take – and even what night of the week it will air – remains very much an open question.

New Smallville Tonight! Will It Be A Sleeper Or A Snoozer?

It's Thursday and another New Smallville Episode! Be sure to catch tonight's new Episode 7.17 - Sleeper, which airs @ 8 PM ET/7 PM PT on the CW Network.

Perhaps, it's not surprising that Lois is not in tonight's
new episode as it might be a snoozer episode, lol. Still, try to watch it for the continuation of last week's episode or stay awake just in time for the trailer for next week's 150th episode, Apocalypse, where Lois returns in AU in the arms of her one and only future soul mate Clark Kent!

Here's the CW's Official description for Sleeper:

The CW's Official Description: JIMMY HELPS THE DEPARTMENT OF DOMESTIC SECURITY ARREST CHLOE — Clark (Tom Welling) desperately searches for Kara (Laura Vandervoort) and Brainiac (guest star James Marsters), as Brainiac is the only one who can reverse Lana's (Kristin Kreuk) condition. Clark asks Chloe (Allison Mack) to check any large power surges in the area, so she breaks into several government computers, setting off alarms. Jimmy (Aaron Ashmore) is caught between the Department of Security - who threatens him with jail time unless he helps them arrest Chloe - and Lex (Michael Rosenbaum), who offers to help clear Chloe if Jimmy agrees to be in his debt.

SR Sequel News: Legendary Pictures CEO And Brandon Routh Talks MOS

From Superman Homepage:

Thomas Tull, founder, chairman and CEO of Legendary Pictures (the company jointly responsible for producing the films Batman Begins, Superman Returns and 300), spoke to Hamilton College students on April 17 about his journey from Hamilton to film production.

Besides screening never-before-seen footage of "The Dark Knight" movie, Tull spoke about his career success, before discussing up-coming projects his company is involved in... including the sequel to "Superman Returns."

Legendary's roster of upcoming films includes a wide variety of properties, including Watchmen (from the renowned graphic novel), Akira (a remake of the popular Japanese anime film), a Superman sequel (in which Tull hopes to invoke more of the image of "an angry god"), Clash of the Titans, Where the Wild Things Are and a film of Paradise Lost (Tull is particularly interested in the "[story] arc of Lucifer").
Read full article at the Hamilton College website.

Also, SR star Brandon Routh mentioned the SR sequel film's current status in Press Telegram, while promoting his new independent film, "Lie To Me," which he co-starred with his wife, Courtney Ford. It will world premiere at New Port Beach Film Festival on Saturday (April 26).

Here's the SR sequel mention part:

And what about the next movie in the "Superman" series? Brandon said director Bryan Singer is in the process of meeting with writers.

He's eager to return to the character and to work with the director again.

"Bryan was very open to communicating about the character and was very collaborative with me. We talked endlessly about the character and what he's going through. On set, we were on the same playing field. He's a genius and it's exciting to see him work. I think (`Superman Returns') is a beautiful film. I'm really, really proud of it and very excited to continue."

Meanwhile in other Superman movie related news, here's the latest news from the JLA movie ...

It seems that The Justice League movie is now kaput ...

According to Superman Homepage,
reports were circulating late last week that producer Joel Silver told chud.com that the "Justice League of America" movie had been "tabled."

I briefly cornered producer Joel Silver to ask him how the Justice League movie would affect Wonder Woman. The answer: it won't. According to Silver, who would be in the know, Justice League has been 'tabled.'

Apparently much of the crew were given termination notice a fortnight ago, spending the past two weeks chaotically attempting to archive everything "just in case."

Update:

Collider.com just did a video interview with Brandon Routh to promote his new movie, "Lie To Me", co-starring his wife Courtney Ford (watch the trailer and 4 video clips here).

Also, watch the
2-part video interview with Brandon Routh at Collider.com.
