In Pop Culture: Movies with Superman/Clois References

As an iconic figure, Superman (with Lois Lane) has often been the subject of references in films as well as the subject of many homages and parodies. Wikipedia has more list from Films and TV shows referencing Superman/Lois Lane.

Below are a list of MOVIES with Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane references...compiled by Clois fans (and members at FD2C Forum):

Enchanted
(starring Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, and James Marsden):

Enchanted shows a "Superman Returns" billboard behind James Marsden (who played Richard White in "Superman Returns"). If you're wondering why he's dressed like that, James Marsden plays Prince Edward in "Enchanted", a story which sees the animated world of princes and princesses clash with real world New York.

And I Am Legend (starring Will Smith):

This Will Smith movie shows a fake Superman vs. Batman Billboard.

"Mermaid" (starring Cher, Winona Ryder, and Christina Ricci) There was a brief Clois/Superman reference:

Charlotte: I'm in love with Joe.
Katie: Do you kiss?
Charlotte: Yes.
Katie: On the lips?
Charlotte: Yes.
Katie: Like Superman and Lois Lane?

Kill Bill: Vol. 2

Watch Bill explaining the philosophy of Superman ...

Bill: An essential characteristic of the superhero mythology is, there's the superhero, and there's the alter ego. Batman is actually Bruce Wayne, Spider-Man is actually Peter Parker. When he wakes up in the morning, he's Peter Parker. He has to put on a costume to become Spider-Man. And it is in that characteristic that Superman stands alone. Superman did not become Superman, Superman was born Superman. When Superman wakes up in the morning, he's Superman. His alter ego is Clark Kent. His outfit with the big red "S", that's the blanket he was wrapped in as a baby when the Kents found him. Those are his clothes. What Kent wears, the glasses, the business suit, that's the costume. That's the costume Superman wears to blend in with us. Clark Kent is how Superman views us. And what are the characteristics of Clark Kent? He's weak, he's unsure of himself... he's a coward. Clark Kent is Superman's critique on the whole human race. Sort of like Beatrix Kiddo and Mrs. Tommy Plympton.

Scream 3
Gail, Dewey and Jennifer go ask a movie producer some questions. Gail is being very forward and the movie producer says, "Listen to me, Lois Lane, I don't know..."

Man of Fire (starring Denzel Washington, Christopher Walken, and Dakota Fanning).

In the scene selection feature, in scene #17...a title was named Lois Lane. Then, the 3rd scene of this movie had some guy saying this about looking for a bodyguard, "We're not looking for a goddamn Superman here, right?" Then, jumping to scene #17, where Denzel's character Creasy was in the car passenger with Christopher Walken's character Rayburn, who was driving (in a highway Mexico City) and there was a car following them...on it was a woman...that was where the brief dialogue mentioning LL occured:

Creasy: "Somebody's on us."
Rayburn: "Yeah, Lois Lane."
Creasy: "Who?"
Rayburn: "Mariana something, works for Reforma. Newspaper Journalist. Maybe she thinks you're a scoop."

Runaway Jury (starring John Cusack, Rachel Weisz)

Two characters Roarke and Fitch, played by Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman (aka- former Lex Luthor) are arguing about how much people really care about justice being done.

Rankin Fitch: You think your average juror is King Solomon? No, he's a roofer with a mortgage. He wants to go home and sit in his Barcalounger and let the cable TV wash over him. And this man doesn't give a single, solitary droplet about truth, justice or your American way.

Blue Crush (starring Kate Bosworth pre-SR), Kate played the lead surfer girl named Anne Marie and her lil' sister Penny and 2 girlfriends/roommates were driving to drop off Penny to school. Anne Marie was driving and Penny seating on the backseat asked Anne Marie and her friends something about the why the sun rises and one of the girls answered something that relates to Superman.

Here was the exact dialogue/line:

Penny: "Why does the sun rise in the east?"
Eden: "Because that's the way the earth rotates. Do you remember that Superman episode...where he was like spinning around the earth backwards...trying to rotate in the other direction? ...and to bring back time?

In this movie, George Clooney's character Jack Taylor is a single divorced father and a reporter for the Daily News. He and his daughter were in his editor's office where his boss/editor was telling Jack's daughter about his cat named Lois Lane. He said, "Her name is Lois Lane and she stays here in this newsroom." Then, the cat run around the Daily News' offices and Jack's daughter was following her and tried to tell her father that Lois was trying to catch a fish. Glitter (starring Mariah Carey, Max Beesley, Terrence Howard)

In the movie and it was in the club scene where this girl was doing a freestyle rap or something and here was her lines:

"Like Elliot Ness, I rhyme the best
I could rip the \S/ off of Superman's chest
Yes, yes, y'all
B-Beat, y'all
You don't wit 'cause I'm one of a kind
About to rock the mike
Don't get too close to my fine behind
Unless you're my man
'cause then you can
'cause me and my man got the master plan."

Also, further down to the end credits of this movie, "Loverboy," one of MC's song for this movie and soundtrack was produced by Mariah Carey & Clark Kent (I kid you not!) So, in my "Glitter" soundtrack album booklet and in the song credits, it was listed on both "Loverboy" (album and remix) versions as produced by Clark Kent for Superman Entertainment and Mariah Carey for Maroon Entertainment.

"Third Wheel" (starring Luke Wilson, Denise Richards, and Ben Affleck).

In this movie, Luke Wilson's character was in the office and it was halloween. He was wearing a suit and tie with glasses. I thought hmm, he reminds me of Clark Kent in Superman a bit, lol. Then, Ben Affleck's character (I think) asked him what are you supposed to be? And he said, "Clark Kent...you know?" Then, he take his glasses on and off, lol.
