No Superman for Singer? JLA Movie Delayed?

Variety.com's deputy editor Anne Thompson published an entry in her weblog stating that she thought Bryan Singer would not return to film another Superman movie, and that the "Justice League of America" movie would be delayed by the on-going Writer's strike...

Speaking of DC Comics pics, it is highly unlikely that Bryan Singer will return to shoot the next Superman movie. (The director is finishing up Tom Cruise's Nazi film Valkyrie, and prepping The Mayor of Castro Street). The next Superman we will see on the big screen will not be Brandon Routh, but a younger Superman among a cast of youthful superheroes in The Justice League. That movie will likely not be shot, however, until after the WGA strike is resolved.
Thomspon, using words such as "unlikely" and "likely" in making the predictions above, doesn't reveal who her sources are for such information and is likely just stating her personal opinion.

That totally sucks. I don't think they need to change anything... It will just take longer to do it. And I think that's another reason to put everything on hold. I truly hope that if Brandon can't do that Tom will spet up to do instead of bringing in a tottally new Superman...

I think that this is purely rumors and speculation. There were no interviews from Singer and Warner Brothers nor a statement to confirmed or deny this news...so let's hope this isn't true. We'll eventually find out soon if Singer is still on board or not to direct MOS. Let's hope he still is, if not. I hope they won't shelve the sequel and that they'll find a good director to replace him. I just hope they won't replace Brandon Routh as he already was perfect in his iconic role as Superman (as well as Clark Kent), at least for me. As for the JLA movie, I'm not really looking forward to it. I'd rather wait for a SR sequel with sole superhero in Clark Kent/Superman, Lois Lane and the rest of the Supes crew than for a bunch of superheroes in the same movie that will just be too much to focus on every single character.

I hope and pray with you that it is only rumors and speculations... Because it would be a wast to just go and change it...

Hopefully, it is. I posted an update about it from Aint It Cool News site and they said that, "Brandon Routh, evidently is still the Man of Steel." So, glad to hear that. Guess, they're telling us not to believe rumors. Now, let's hope the WGA Strike would end soon and that they're still making the movie for 2009.
