Happy Birthday Lois Lane!

Today, August 17th is traditionally recognized as Lois Lane's birthday!

Three days later on , it'll be another Lois Lane's birthday! The actress currently playing the iconic LL on the big screen in Golden Globe winner and 5-time Oscar Nominee 's (Lois Lane of Man of Steel film (Released June 14th, 2013 and available on DVD/Blu-ray) and the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (in theaters March 25th, 2016) birthday (August 20th).

For today, it's all about Miss LOIS LANE, the iconic and beloved Superman character (and Clark Kent/Superman's leading lady/true love as well as Daily Planet co-worker).

Margot Kidder was recently a featured guest at Supanova Pop Culture Expo 2013 in Sydney, Australia. Looks like she has already seen the new Man of Steel movie starring  (Clark Kent/Kal-El) & Margot Kidder on the casting of Amy Adams as Lois Lane

"Amy Adams as Lois Lane is a wonderful choice. She'll bring a lot to the role. She is a great actress with great acting depth. I have loved her work, so I have no doubt she will be an incredible Lois Lane. Welcome to the family, Amy!"    

Also, if Margot must know, Amy loves her too and has mentioned her a lot in her Man of Steel press interviews that she grew up loving Margot's portrayal of Lois Lane in the late Christopher Reeve's Superman movies. Loved that these two LL actresses have a lot of admiration and nice things to say about each other even though they've never met or work together...yet.

Margot Kidder is a featured guest at this weekends Supanova Pop Culture Expo 2013 in Sydney, Australia.

Known for her role as Lois Lane in the 1978 film, "Superman - The Movie", Kidder spoke during a Q&A session about working on the film and with the late Christopher Reeve.

In regard to "Man of Steel", Kidder spoke fondly of Amy Adams interpretation of the Lois Lane character and Henry Cavil's role as Superman.

"Oh, I got to see Amy Adams the night before I got here in Montana and she’s really, really terrific. [...] When I played Lois, she would go gaga for Superman and then revert to being smart and dismissive to Clark. Amy played it smart the whole way through. [...] And that hunky Henry [Cavill]... When MTV News spoke to Kidder about the casting, she explained what it takes to be a great on-screen Lois, and expressed some serious jealousy that she won't get to be carried up, up and away in Henry Cavill's arms.

MTV NEWS: What do you think about Amy Adams as Lois Lane?
MARGOT KIDDER: She's a brilliant, wonderful actress! She's incredible. She's an extraordinarily accomplished young lady — and gorgeous and full of energy and spirit. She's so different from part to part, it's going to be really interesting to see what she does with Lois.
MTV: What's the key to playing a great Lois Lane?
KIDDER: Gosh, I think Amy Adams is so much better an actress than I am that I wouldn't even for a second presume to give her any advice on the subject at all!
MTV: Do not sell your Lois Lane short!
KIDDER: Well, thank you. But she's amazing, this girl.
MTV: For you, Lois was really the role that put you in the spotlight. Amy Adams is obviously much more established. Do you think there's anything to the fact that such an iconic character should be a relative unknown?
KIDDER: I don't think so. We act for a living, so a good actor is going to make you believe that's her. So I don't think that really matters. And she gets to act with that divine Henry — how do you pronounce his last name?
MTV: Cavill, like "travel."
KIDDER: Oh my god, he's heaven. He's heaven! He's got a sexuality! As wonderful as Christopher [Reeve] was — and he was wonderful and perfect — he was not exactly a big steaming heap of sexuality. And this Cavill really is. I loved him on "The Tudors." I couldn't get enough of him. I think the casting is just inspired. The director sounds very, very bright. So clearly there will be something interesting going on. And hopefully, they'll get the same kind of wonderful, funny dialogue from Tom Mankiewicz for ours.
MTV: Some people are saying Amy Adams is a little too old for Henry Cavill.
KIDDER: They are? Who cares! What a bizarre thing to be concerned about. She certainly doesn't look older than him.
MTV: What did you think of Kate Bosworth as Lois?
KIDDER: I thought she was delightful and underrated. Because we got Tom Mankiewicz — he did more than polish the script, he really did most of the writing on "Superman" and "Superman II" — I got the benefit of all the clever, can't-miss lines that he wrote for Lois. Very witty and sort of '30s. I don't know that they gave [Bosworth's] Lois as much of a sense of humor. But I thought she was terrific.
MTV: At the end of the day, is that what you think makes Lois great on screen — those witty, funny lines?
KIDDER: It's the old adage and it's always true. You can make a bad movie from a good script, but you can't make a good movie from a bad script. It's all about the writing. There's that rather rude joke about the Polish girl who went to Hollywood and slept with the writer, and that was me! When someone told me the joke, I didn't get it.

Plus, Zack Snyder's "excited" about Amy Adams as Lois Lane!

Speaking on the red carpet at the UK premiere of his new movie 'Sucker Punch' at the Vue Leicester Square, Zack told BANG Showbiz: "I'm really excited about Amy of course. I'm really excited about the message that sends.
"It took a little while to cast her and we had to fly Henry over to see how they looked together but it's great."

Smallville Casting News: Teri Hatcher to play Lois Lane's mother!!!

EW's "Ausiello Files" reports that former Lois Lane (from the popular 90s ABC series Lois & Clark), Teri Hatcher has been cast in the role of Lois Lane's mother for the 10th and final season of "Smallville".

For the show's 10th and final season, producers have scored perhaps their biggest (maybe even the biggest possible) casting coup: They've snagged erstwhile Lois Lane Teri Hatcher to play mom to Erica Durance's Lois Lane!

As you know, Hatcher spent four years playing Superman’s soul mate on ABC’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. The fact that the Desperate Housewives star was game to do this speaks volumes about her appreciation for that role (and the role it played in her future career). I’m sure they’re also paying her well, too.

Hatcher will play the role of Ella Lane, Lois' deceased mother, who left behind videotape messages for her daughter, which Lois will find during the 8th episode of Season 10 titled "Abandoned".

Speaking of Lois Lane actresses playing Lois Lane's mother...it's very interesting to note here that in the past, two other Lois Lane actresses crossed over before such as Noel Neill (played Margot Kidder's Lois' mom in Superman: The Movie...she was Lois Lane in The Adventures of Superman series, who appeared in S:TM, Superboy series, and Superman Returns), Phyllis Coates (played Teri Hatcher's Lois' mom Ellen Lane in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman in the first season cliffhanger episode, "The House of Luthor" [episode # 21 of season 1]). She was Lois Lane in the first season of The Adventures of Superman, before Noel Neill took over the famous Lois Lane role. She also starred in Superman and the Mole Men movie before it became a television series), and now Teri will be playing to Lois' mom Ella Lane to Erica's Lois in the upcoming Smallville's 10th and final season!

• Erica Durance (Lois Lane) will be appearing in 18 episodes during Season 9. (Smallville producers thanked Clois fans for Operation Wild Cherry supporting Erica on the show and getting more episodes).
  
• Tom Welling (Clark Kent) will be directing two episodes (Allison Mack said that Tom is her favorite director) as well as serve as a co-executive producer during Season 9.

This season, your episode count has been upped to 18 episodes. How do you feel this will improve the continuity of your character and will we no longer have months with no Lois?

Given that there's 18, then the time where Lois disappears is unlikely. So right now I've been really, really busy and working a lot, and am very much enjoying the arc that they've given me to play with this year, and I'm really looking forward to the rest.

Erica talks about inspiration from previous Lois Lane actresses:

The way I work is, I will totally appreciate what the other [Loises] do, but for me to research, I could never be Margot Kidder; I could never be Teri Hatcher, and I would fall into the trap of trying to be them instead of seeing it through my eyes. So if it makes sense, I try to see Lois as a brand new person, and even though she is a much beloved character, I try to look at it as this brand new girl, never been played before by anyone, and kind of go with it. Of course, I also have the luxury of having a really great creative team that would go "okay, but this is the way she is," so all of those points of the character were still there, but I was allowed to kind of reinvent it.

Smallville's Clois together for the first time at SD Comic-Con 2009!

Great news for all Smallville Clois Fans especially to those of you who are attending this year's Sand Diego Comic-Con International (lucky SV/Clois fans...I wish I could go too. I would, if I could. Are you kidding me? TomErica as in Tom & Erica is actually going to be there! Unfortunately, I don't live in San Diego, CA or even near there. Sigh! It's times like this I wish I live in SD or Cali...I would've been there for this year as Smallville panel with the cast that include 2 of my favorite Clois actors TW & ED, not too mention other Clois actors in other Superman media such as SR's BR and Superman's MK...or even to see some cast of Heroes and Twilight/New Moon movies...I'd be, not only in Clois heaven, but also my other favorite TV shows and movies would be super cool to see...but of course not. Fortunately for me, I've already met 2 Lois Lane actresses in last year's MegaCon 2008, which include Erica Durance)...

For the first time ever (in Smallville history...that is), our favorite Smallville stars Tom Welling & Erica Durance (aka Clark & Lois or Clois for short) will be attending this Sunday's Smallville panel at Comic-Con '09 with fellow Smallville cast & crew (see Tom Welling Confirmed to attend on SD Comic-Con Smallville Panel to read who else will be attending besides TW & ED). Margot Kidder is listed here to appear at MegaCon with Smallville's Alaina Huffman (Black Canary). Another Smallville star Laura Vandervoort was scheduled to appear as well, but due to her work schedule, she will be unable to attend next year's convention, according to MegaCon's website.


MegaCon is held February 27-March 1, 2009.

Margot Kidder scheduled to appear @ Armageddon Expo

According to TVNZ - New Zealand, Margot Kidder is scheduled to appear in Armageddon Expo, a New Zealand Comic Convention later this month in the 3 day event, which runs this year from October 25th - 27th at the Aotea Centre in Auckland.

This year's event is as big as ever with International stars including Doug Jones (Abe Sapien in Hellboy 1 and 2), Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1), Margot Kidder (the original Lois Lane from the first four Superman films), David Anders (Heroes and Alias) and Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters 1 & 2) heading to Aoteraoa to brave the crowds who queue to have pictures taken with them and questions posed over their respective choice of roles.

However, if those don't whet your palette, there's always plenty of other options to wile away your time.

The first time Margot Kidder saw a movie being made, she was just 16 and happened upon a cast and crew on a location shoot in her native Canada.

She stood and watched for a really long time while she wondered what it would be like to be a part of that process. She found out in a big way when she was cast as Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve in the original series of "Superman" films.

Margot Kidder to appear at London Film and Comic Con

Margot Kidder, best known to Superman fans as Lois Lane in the Christopher Reeve "Superman" films, will be appearing as a special guest at the London Film and Comic Con.

Kidder, who also starred as Bridget Crosby on tv's "Smallville", will be in attendance at the convention on Saturday, July 19th and Sunday, July 20th.

The London Film and Comic Con is being held at Earls Court 2 in London.

Margot Kidder says mental illness is like grief

As previously posted here, Margot Kidder was reported to visiting York Region in hopes of helping to change some of those attitudes.


Here's the latest on her visit Monday to York Region as Margot Kidder (see a new picture of her to your left. photo source: mike barrett) was the guest speaker of the event.

People with mental illness have been tied up, beaten and subjected to other forms of torture, actress and mental health activist Margot Kidder said last Monday night during a visit to the region.

The woman best known for playing Lois Lane in the Christopher Reeves Superman movie, spoke in Richmond Hill at a Canadian Mental Health Association York Region event.

Ms. Kidder is an advocate for mental health and alternative treatments.

The other extra or rather in-between things I did @ MegaCon that I didn't mention on my M&G with ED and NN reports. I thought I'd post this one here to share with you all. While I was waiting to meet Erica and Noel, I had so much fun taking pics of the people wearing superhero costumes. I got excited when I saw a few guys with a Superman costume, but the first one I saw was this guy who's very cute and tall. How ironic that he was the one I was able to pose in a picture with, lol (see my pic with him above to your left. Click it to enlarge! It's Superman & Lois!... I mean, Superman & ME! haha!!!). So, of course, my first time at MegaCon Convention won't be complete without meeting (and taking a pic with) Superman, lol. Not only that I got to met two super awesome Lois Lanes...I also got to met Superman too (sort of, hehe). Interesting eh? Plus I saw a signed Margot Kidder picture frame on display in a Superman comic book. Got a few pics of people wearing superheroes custumes, SR photo of Brandon Routh & Kate Bosworth (as Superman & Lois) with their signed autographs in a photo frame display, plus a candid pic of Kristy Swanson (Buffy), and more!
