Watch: The first trailer of CBS's new Supergirl series starring Melissa Benoist; with a glimpse of Dean Cain and Helen Slater!

After announcing Supergirl being picked up into a series early last week by CBS for Mondays at 8pm in this coming Fall 2015-2016 season starting November, the network has released a few images stills (via Kryptonsite) featuring its main star Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-EL aka Kara Danvers. It also released the first trailer, which is about 6 and 1/2 minutes long! Loved it! It's super too with the Krypton origin, a blurry Superman cameo (Hmm, I wonder who that Superman is in the trailer...could it be Henry Cavill's?!!) and a quick glimpse of Lois & Clark's Dean Cain and Supergirl's Helen Slater, which both will make special appearances in the series.

The show also stars Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen and Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, along with Chyler Leigh, and Jeremy Jordan.

Check out and watch the first trailer for Supergirl and see the description below...

Here's CBS's official description for Supergirl:
SUPERGIRL is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Golden Globe Award winner Calista Flockhart), who just hired the Daily Planet’s former photographer, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime. Greg Berlanti (“The Flash,” “Arrow”), Ali Adler, Sarah Schecter and Andrew Kreisberg are executive producers for Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The pilot was directed by Glen Winter (“Arrow”).

TV Casting News: Dean Cain joins the upcoming CBS pilot 'Supergirl'

Here's a super TV casting news I can get super excited and has a reason to watch the new series about...former Lois & Clark's Dean Cain along with former Supergirl movie star Helen Slater has reportedly landed a guest-starring roles in the upcoming CBS pilot Supergirl starring Melissa Benoist (Glee, Whiplash).

Here's the TVLine article below...
Supergirl Casts the Heroic Helen Slater and Dean Cain in Top-Secret Roles

How’s this for super-meta casting: Helen Slater and Dean Cain have landed guest-starring roles on CBS’s Supergirl, TVLine has learned.

Slater, of course, played Kara on the big screen in 1984’s Supergirl, while Cain starred as the Man of Steel in ABC’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. And both guest-starred on the WB/CW Superman drama Smallville, Slater in the role of Clark/Kal-El’s Krypton mom Lara, and Cain as the immortal Dr. Curtis Knox.

Details on who the pair will be playing in the pilot are being kept under lock and key (but feel free to speculate away in the comments).

As previously reported, Laura Benanti (Nashville) will play Kara’s birth mother, Alura Zor-El, who continues to guide her daughter across space and time.

The cast also includes Grey’s Anatomy‘s Chyler Leigh as Kara’s foster sister Alex, Homeland‘s David Harewood as Department of Extra-Normal Operations chief Hank Henshaw, Ally McBeal‘s Calista Flockhart as Kara’s boss Cat Grant and Desperate Housewives‘ Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen.

TV Casting News: Brandon Routh to star in upcoming untitled Arrow/Flash Superhero team-up spinoff

Former Superman Returns star Brandon Routh is currently a recurring guest star in CW's Arrow (starring Stephen Amel and Katie Cassidy) as Ray Palmer aka The Atom. His character might join the upcoming new Arrow/Flash superhero team-up spinoff that's in the works at CW, according to a Deadline article below...
Arrow/Flash Superhero Team-Up Spinoff In Works At CW; Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Wentworth Miller, Caity Lotz Star

EXCLUSIVE: DC Comics superheroes are uniting in a potential new drama series at the CW, a spinoff from hits Arrow and The Flash that will feature several fan-favorite recurring actors/characters from both shows. I have learned that the network has teamed with Arrow creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim for a project eyed for next season toplined by Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Wentworth Miller and Caity Lotz.

The untitled project, now in development, is described as a superhero team-up show. Routh, Miller and Garber will reprise their popular DC Comics characters  — Arrow‘s Ray Palmer/The Atom (Routh), Flash villain Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Miller), and Flash‘s Dr. Martin Stein (Garber). Because her Arrow character Sara Lance was killed off, with her sister Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) taking over as the Black Canary, it is unclear whether Lotz will play the same or new superhero.

Watch: Brandon Routh in a preview of CBS' new comedy series 'Partners'

A new comedy series PARTNERS starring Brandon Routh (Wyatt), Michael Urie (Louis), David Krumholtz (Joe) and Sophia Bush (Ali), premieres Monday, Sept. 24 (8:30 PM- 9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. See a few photos of Brandon Routh at CBS' Summer TCA Tour.
PARTNERS is a comedy based on the lives of creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, about two life-long best friends and business partners whose "bromance" is tested when one of them is engaged to be married.  Joe is an accomplished architect who leads with his head and not his heart, especially in his love life.  That's in stark contrast to his gay co-worker, Louis, who is spontaneous, emotional and prone to exaggeration. Both have found joy in their love lives: Joe is newly engaged to Ali, a beautiful and sophisticated jewelry designer, and Louis' companion is Wyatt, a vegan nurse who Louis insists is just a promotion away from becoming a doctor.  As news of Joe's engagement settles, time will tell if their business and personal bond can adapt to the addition of two other important relationships.
Interesting BR plays a gay character here...it'll be weird seeing him (who was a former Superman actor) play as a gay guy in this new comedy series. I probably won't be able to picture him as the man of steel anymore after seeing this, lol...
