Troops in Iraq, Kuwait to see free premiere of '21'

Troops in Balad, Iraq, and Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, will have the chance to see the new film “21” a week before it’s to be released in stateside theaters, officials said Friday.

The Army and Air Force Exchange Service and Sony Pictures Entertainment are bringing a free preview of the film, which stars Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth and Laurence Fishburne. The plot is based on the true story of a group of MIT students who count cards to win money at Las Vegas casino games. They then become targets of casino security.

The free premiere was arranged at the request of the film’s director, Robert Luketic.

“This free screening is a small way to thank the brave men and women who are serving far from the comforts of their favorite local movie theater,” Roy Robertson, AAFES vice president of food and theater, said in the release.

“This will be a well-deserved entertainment break as well as a much needed taste of home.”
